Insolent Tonsils

About once every three months or so, my sinus drain, spilling their contents onto the back of my throat. Every time this occurs, my right tonsil becomes red, inflammed, and ultimately infected enough to warrant a trip to the physician. This is becoming problematic enough that I'm actually considering elective surgury to rip the little buggers out. Good idea or not? Vote at

AAA

AAA-Triple A...the AUTOCLUB-not something for alcoholics, rocks my casbah. Called them today for a lockout with car running, and someone was going to be there within 30 minutes of the call being placed. Fortunately, the keys were recovered and all was happy in the land before the AAA guy arrived, so another call was made to cancel the assistance. However, the uh...dispatchers (is this what you call them?) were wonderful despite my admitted ineptitude in asking questions and requesting assistance...though my direction giving skills are above par (head west on 121, turn right and head north, turn at the second road on the left and head west)...those are pretty nifty eh?

In the process of moving stuff from point A to point B. Got my sweet, sweet bed today and then took a 4 hour nap on it. We're talking face down, out cold, drooling good sleep.

Probably trekking back to ye ole Land of Lincoln Wednesday morning. It's supposed to rain up there tomorrow and be wicked cold...not to mention I don't think I'll have enough stuff moved to Point B tomorrow. With it close to 2am, will be sleeping later tomorrow too. Just still terribly wiped from finals week.

Watching videos of 2003 countdown on vh1. Good times and it's actually pretty right-on, though I would definitely put both Johnny Cash and Outkast higher up-like #1 and #2.

While cleaning out the bathroom, have found a bunch of lotions, potion, and sprays people have given me. If you or someone you know like the smell of lavender, sweet pea, or some other lovely floral, you're free to take some off my hands. I've amassed too much of it but being crazy frugal, can't just toss it out because "it's perfectly good." Issues...yeah.

Tonight was the best night to be in the library...

Finals Week hours in effect mean the library is open until 1am. Yay for extra study in the library time. It's like studying at home, but there's no tv or readily available internet to lure my attention away from the books. Tonight must have been the most eventful night of the semester in Waterfield and I was lucky enough to be there.

Eventful Thing #1: So I'm sitting in the StarBooks area (coffee bar/play on words extraordinaire) studying ergo and I look up to see 3 students (appeared to be int'l, but that's beside the point) lighting stuff on fire and throwing it on the ground. At first I thought it was fireworks (so i guess them being int'l made me think fireworks), but it didn't make a pretty flash or go boom. They were standing around in a circle lighting paper on fire and tossing it onto the sidewalk. Went over and told the yellow-shirted Racer Patrol lady that some folks were lighting stuff on fire and then raced to the window to watch what happened. They saw her coming, stomped out the fire, and scurried off into the night.

Event #2: Some fellow brought his laptop battery to the front desk to get a charged one. Amanda, awesome girl/awesome sister, was working the desk and tried graciously to help him. However, her request for the actual laptop itself (needs the whole kit and kaboodle in order to get a newly charged battery) stirred a great and furious anger at her and he proceeded to curse at her in broken english before vanishing into the bowels of the library. This time, campus police showed up, complete with pulling up with car on the sidewalk, and had a chat with the fellow as to how to speak to the ever-cool library staff.

I'll be watching for both of these in this week's policebeat.

Val Kilmer vs. The Commies

Had a pre-finals movie night with the sisters tonight (The Saint and Top Gun). What do these movies have in common? Let's do a side by side comparison...

The Saint
about a thief
guy gets teh blonde
is ultimately a film about playing dress
references numerous catholic saints throughout film
the bad guys == post USSR russians with an "agenda"
Val Kilmer

Top Gun
about a boy and his figher jet plane
guy gets the blonde
JOIN THE NAVY!!!
some would argue Jerry Bruckheimer sold his soul to satan
bad guys == Commies in migs
Val Kilmer

While both of these movies seem to be as far apart on the spectrum as can be, at the root of it all, it's about Val Kilmer keeping the world safe for Democracy and flaunting his expertly frosted hair. and WTF with the chomping his teeth at Tom Cruise in Top Gun? I'll give a slice of pepper jack cheese to anyone that can give me an intelligent explanation for the reasoning behind it.

Sand volleyball scene in Top Gun > most

The week in review:
1. Ask me about nickel induced contact dermatitis and I'll show you a slide show.
2. Taco Tuesday > *
3. Applebees had 1/2 priced appetizers and I can no longer chug an Amberbock like I used to.
4. For the life of me, I can't remember Thursday, so it must have been good.
5. Friday rocked. Los with the sisters followed by studying and movie night...

And just out of curiousity, does anyone actually read this?

I've decided I don't sleep anymore. Sleep is beneath me. I was so tired this morning that I was stumbling around the house and dropping stuff. You know when you get so tired it feels like you're having a heart attack? Oh, ...I thought that happened to everyone... Anyway, I've been up and at it since 9-something yesterday morning and I feel like I could keep going for hours. Currently putting together a slide show presentation for the morning and it's going really well. Keep cleaning and editing and looking for more distrubing pictures. So far, I've got a nasty case of nickel induced eczema and dermatitis of the hands and ears. The cherry on top is a pic of a lady removing her arm. It can be viewed at http://www.alatheia.com/val-without-amputees-prosthetics.jpg . Be warned, it's already given one person the heebie-jeebies. Another good one is http://www.alatheia.com/nita-without-amputees-prosthetics.jpg .

Wow-nearly sneezed all over the screen.

Ate at Nick's for dinner tonight...good stuff, dug the atmosphere. I think I'll go back. Next time, sampling lots of beer though. 20 different types on tap. Yay@having another place to be carried out of...I mean stumble out of ... I mean *PYONG*
